SpecCompare Privacy Policy

SpecCompare is published by InnoVista Labs as a device information, search, and comparison app. This policy applies to the mobile app and the catalog services used to keep device data up to date.

1. App Purpose and Publisher

SpecCompare is a device catalog, search, and comparison app published by InnoVista Labs. The app helps users browse device specifications, model numbers, aliases, brands, categories, variants, benchmark references, and side-by-side comparison values.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the current app handles, how public catalog data and local settings are stored, and what choices users have.

2. Age Rating and Adult Audience

This app is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. The app is not directed to children or minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

  • If you are under 18, do not use the app without appropriate permission from a parent or legal guardian.
  • If we learn that personal information from a minor has been collected through a future feature, we will delete it where technically and legally possible.
  • The current app does not provide messaging, social networking, user-generated public profiles, dating, gambling, adult content, or user-to-user communication features.

3. Information We Collect

The current public app does not require account registration and does not ask users to provide name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera access, microphone access, precise location, payment information, or address book data.

  • The app stores a public device catalog and your selected light or dark theme locally on your device. These are app content and settings, not a personal user profile.
  • When the app downloads a catalog file, the hosting provider may receive standard connection data, such as an IP address, device or browser user agent, requested URL, and request time. This is used to deliver the file, maintain reliability, and protect the service.
  • Device catalog search terms are processed locally inside the app to filter the cached catalog. The current app does not send those search terms to the catalog service as a search profile.
  • The app may store local app preferences, such as the selected light or dark theme, on your device.
  • The current app does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. If future saved devices, reports, image upload, price management, analytics, or account features are added, this policy will be updated before or alongside those features.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers for personalized ads in the current app.
  • We do not collect precise GPS location in the current app.
  • We do not collect contact lists, SMS, call logs, calendar data, health data, financial data, photos, videos, audio recordings, or files from the device in the current app.
  • We do not require user account creation for normal catalog browsing, searching, or comparing.

5. Catalog Data and Local Storage

On a new installation, the app downloads a small public catalog index and stores it locally using Isar. This lets browsing, search, category filtering, brand filtering, and comparison work offline after the first download.

  • The catalog index can include device names, brands, categories, model aliases, key specifications, comparison values, and release-update metadata.
  • Full specifications, variants, benchmark references, and source records download only when you open a device page. A previously opened device page can then be used offline until the catalog is updated.
  • Local catalog data and theme preferences are app content and settings, not a personal user profile.
  • The local cache remains on the device until the app replaces it, you clear app data, or you uninstall the app.
  • Clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes the catalog cache and local preferences controlled by the app.

6. Catalog Delivery and Offline Use

The app downloads public catalog releases over HTTPS from spec-compare-catalog.chorchaghor.com. Normal users do not need an account, API key, or sign-in to browse the catalog.

  • A new installation needs an internet connection to download the initial catalog index. If it cannot download, the app shows a Retry option and does not show invented fallback data.
  • After the index is cached, browsing, search, comparison, and previously opened device details can work without an internet connection.
  • When a connection is available, the app checks a small manifest and downloads a new index only when the catalog version changed.
  • The app verifies the catalog file before replacing the local cache. A network, server, checksum, or data error does not erase a working local catalog.
  • Catalog data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

7. How We Use Information

  • Provide device catalog browsing, search, category filtering, brand filtering, and device comparison features.
  • Download and verify public catalog releases when an update is available.
  • Improve app reliability, startup behavior, offline loading, and data quality.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, unauthorized writes, security issues, or service misuse.
  • Maintain source transparency and catalog change quality for device specification records.
  • Respond to privacy, support, deletion, or data-quality requests.

8. Device Data Source Transparency

The app provides informational device specifications and comparison values. Device names, model numbers, aliases, specifications, release dates, and source references may come from official manufacturer pages, official press releases, public documentation, manual review, or other referenced sources.

  • The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Samsung, Apple, Google, Xiaomi, Redmi, OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, realme, Motorola, Honor, Infinix, Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp, Toshiba, Vizio, Skyworth, Haier, or any other device brand unless explicitly stated.
  • Brand names, product names, model numbers, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification, cataloging, and comparison purposes.
  • Device data may contain errors or become outdated. Users should verify important purchase, compatibility, repair, warranty, update, and safety decisions from official manufacturer or seller sources.
  • Prices are not treated as permanent fixed specifications. If price features are added later, they may be updated separately and should be verified with the relevant shop or source.

9. Official Brand Sources

Device records may reference official manufacturer websites, public product pages, and public documentation. These official brand websites cover brands currently represented in the catalog; country-specific product pages can vary by model and region.

10. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing.

  • The catalog hosting provider may process standard connection data only as needed to operate, secure, and deliver the public catalog. Google Play, Android, and other mobile-platform services may process technical information under their own terms.
  • We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our policies, to investigate abuse, or to protect users, the public, the app, or the service.
  • External websites opened by the user are governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

12. Data Retention

  • Local catalog cache: kept on the user's device until refreshed, cleared, or removed by uninstalling the app.
  • Local app preferences, such as theme mode: kept on the user's device until changed, cleared, or removed by uninstalling the app.
  • Public catalog releases, source records, and release history: kept as needed to operate the catalog, preserve data quality, investigate issues, and support rollback.
  • Catalog source and change-log records: kept as needed for verification, debugging, quality control, and rollback.
  • Connection logs and platform records follow the retention practices of the relevant hosting or platform provider.
  • If future account, saved-device, or report features are added, retention rules for those features will be described in an updated policy.

13. Security

We use reasonable safeguards for the app and catalog service. These include HTTPS/TLS transport, immutable catalog release files, checksum verification before a cache replacement, restricted catalog deployment access, and public read access only for device information intended to be visible in the app.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Users should keep their device operating system, Google Play services, and app version up to date.

14. User Controls and Rights

  • You may clear local app data through your device settings.
  • You may change the app theme inside the app.
  • You may uninstall the app to remove app-controlled local catalog cache and local app preferences from your device.
  • You may restrict or disable network access using device settings where supported.
  • You may contact us to ask privacy questions or request information about data associated with future account/report features if such features are introduced.
  • Because the current public app does not require user accounts, there may be no personal account record for us to locate or delete for normal users.

15. International Processing

The catalog host, Google, and other platform providers may process technical connection data on servers located in different countries. By using the app, you understand that service operation may involve processing outside your country or region, subject to applicable provider terms and safeguards.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, including if account features, analytics, saved devices, reports, images, prices, or a hosted search service are added. Updated versions will be posted with a revised "Last updated" date.
