SpecCompare Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 10, 2026. Last updated: June 18, 2026. Intended audience: users 18 years of age or older.

SpecCompare is published by InnoVista Labs as a device information, search, and comparison app. This policy applies to the mobile app and the catalog services used to keep device data up to date.

1. App Purpose and Publisher

SpecCompare is a device catalog, search, and comparison app published by InnoVista Labs. The app helps users browse device specifications, model numbers, aliases, brands, categories, variants, benchmark references, and side-by-side comparison values.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is used, how catalog data and local app preferences are stored, how Firebase services support the app, and what choices users have.

2. Age Rating and Adult Audience

This app is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. The app is not directed to children or minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

  • If you are under 18, do not use the app without appropriate permission from a parent or legal guardian.
  • If we learn that personal information from a minor has been collected through a future feature, we will delete it where technically and legally possible.
  • The current app does not provide messaging, social networking, user-generated public profiles, dating, gambling, adult content, or user-to-user communication features.

3. Information We Collect

The current public app does not require account registration and does not ask users to provide name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera access, microphone access, precise location, payment information, or address book data.

  • Technical and app-operation data may be processed by Firebase, Google Play, Android, device operating systems, or hosting providers to provide connectivity, app security, crash diagnostics, abuse prevention, performance monitoring, and service reliability.
  • The app may use network connection state and app configuration needed to download catalog updates from Cloud Firestore.
  • The app may process device catalog search terms locally inside the app to filter device results. These local search terms are not intentionally stored as personal user profiles.
  • The app may store local app preferences, such as the selected light or dark theme, on your device.
  • If future saved devices, reports, image upload, price management, analytics, or account features are added, this policy will be updated before or alongside those features.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers for personalized ads in the current app.
  • We do not collect precise GPS location in the current app.
  • We do not collect contact lists, SMS, call logs, calendar data, health data, financial data, photos, videos, audio recordings, or files from the device in the current app.
  • We do not require user account creation for normal catalog browsing, searching, or comparing.

5. Catalog Data and Local Storage

Device specification data is bundled with the app and may be synchronized from Cloud Firestore. The app loads bundled local catalog data first and may then apply Firebase catalog updates when available. The app stores catalog data locally on your device using Isar so the catalog can load faster and remain available during normal use.

  • Local catalog data can include device names, brands, categories, model aliases, key specifications, comparison values, full spec groups, variants, benchmark records, source records, and update metadata.
  • The app also stores lightweight local preferences such as the selected theme mode.
  • Local catalog data and local theme preferences are app content or app settings, not personal user profile data.
  • Local cache and local app preferences remain on the device until the app updates them, the user changes them, the user clears app data, or the app is uninstalled.
  • Clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes locally stored catalog cache and local preferences controlled by the app.

6. Firebase and Backend Services

The app uses Google Firebase services to keep catalog data updated and reliable.

  • Cloud Firestore is used as the remote catalog update source after the local catalog has loaded.
  • If Firebase is unavailable, the app can continue using bundled or locally cached catalog data.
  • Firebase Storage may be used later for device images if image support is enabled.
  • Cloud Functions may be used later for backend automation if needed.
  • Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS where supported by the platform and service providers.
  • Firebase, Google, hosting providers, Android, and mobile platform services may process technical information according to their own service terms and privacy practices.

7. How We Use Information

  • Provide device catalog browsing, search, category filtering, brand filtering, and device comparison features.
  • Download and apply catalog updates from Firestore.
  • Improve app reliability, startup behavior, offline loading, and data quality.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, unauthorized writes, security issues, or service misuse.
  • Maintain source transparency and catalog change quality for device specification records.
  • Respond to privacy, support, deletion, or data-quality requests.

8. Device Data Source Transparency

The app provides informational device specifications and comparison values. Device names, model numbers, aliases, specifications, release dates, and source references may come from official manufacturer pages, official press releases, public documentation, manual review, or other referenced sources.

  • The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Google, OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, realme, Motorola, Honor, Infinix, Lenovo, Dell, HP, ASUS, or any other device brand unless explicitly stated.
  • Brand names, product names, model numbers, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification, cataloging, and comparison purposes.
  • Device data may contain errors or become outdated. Users should verify important purchase, compatibility, repair, warranty, update, and safety decisions from official manufacturer or seller sources.
  • Prices are not treated as permanent fixed specifications. If price features are added later, they may be updated separately and should be verified with the relevant shop or source.

9. Official Brand Sources

Device records may reference official manufacturer websites, public product pages, and public documentation. Examples of official brand sources include:

10. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing.

  • Service providers such as Firebase, Google, hosting providers, mobile platforms, and backend infrastructure providers may process technical data only as needed to operate, secure, and deliver the app.
  • We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our policies, to investigate abuse, or to protect users, the public, the app, or the service.
  • External websites opened by the user are governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

12. Data Retention

  • Local catalog cache: kept on the user's device until refreshed, cleared, or removed by uninstalling the app.
  • Local app preferences, such as theme mode: kept on the user's device until changed, cleared, or removed by uninstalling the app.
  • Remote catalog data: kept as needed to operate the catalog, preserve data quality, track sources, and support app updates.
  • Catalog source and change-log records: kept as needed for verification, debugging, quality control, and rollback.
  • Technical logs or diagnostics processed by Firebase, Google, Android, hosting providers, or platform services follow those providers' retention practices.
  • If future account, saved-device, or report features are added, retention rules for those features will be described in an updated policy.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for the app and backend services. These include HTTPS/TLS transport, Firebase security rules, restricted catalog write access, least-privilege operational access where practical, and public read access only for catalog data intended to be visible in the app.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Users should keep their device operating system, Google Play services, and app version up to date.

14. User Controls and Rights

  • You may clear local app data through your device settings.
  • You may change the app theme inside the app.
  • You may uninstall the app to remove app-controlled local catalog cache and local app preferences from your device.
  • You may restrict or disable network access using device settings where supported.
  • You may contact us to ask privacy questions or request information about data associated with future account/report features if such features are introduced.
  • Because the current public app does not require user accounts, there may be no personal account record for us to locate or delete for normal users.

15. International Processing

Firebase, Google, hosting providers, and other service providers may process technical data on servers located in different countries. By using the app, you understand that service operation may involve processing outside your country or region, subject to applicable provider terms and safeguards.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, including if account features, analytics, saved devices, reports, images, prices, fuzzy search services, or additional Firebase services are added. Updated versions will be posted with a revised "Last updated" date.
